Gus and Jessica Vu met on the dance floor in 1997 and have been keeping Lindy Hop alive in Dayton, Ohio ever since. They have traveled extensively to Lindy Exchanges and Clinics from coast to coast and have danced under the direction of many great Lindy and Swing dancers, including Frankie Manning himself.

Currently Vu-Do Swing teaches dance to the public through the City Of Beavercreek Parks and Recreation Department and has proudly taught more than 1,500 local Daytonians.

Vu-Do Swing have also taught at Performance Arts Schools, Home School Co-Ops and Church Youth groups and is dedicated to educating young generations and teaching them life-long lead and follow skills with emphasis on respect, dance etiquette, music appreciation and musicality.

1998 Red Carpet performance for the Grand Opening of Planet Hollywood – Columbus, Ohio
2000 Dayton Dragon’s 5/3 Field Grand Opening Celebration
2000 1st Place in Battle of Ohio Swing Dance Competition
2001 1st Place in Battle of Ohio Swing Dance Competition
2004 A DayTony Award for an Outstanding Ensemble Performance In The Rising Phoenix Theatre Production of Taking Christmas to the Troops in which they also choreographed.
2004 Opening performers and instructors for Royal Crown Revue concert.

Community Outreach

Vu-Do Swing has been involved in countless community outreach projects including performances at numerous nursing homes, shopping malls, baseball fields, vintage flight weekends, WWII historic weekends, D-Day memorial services, USO events, USAF vintage dances and many, many more.

    I enjoyed the dance last night as always. As I said, I could get the word out to dancers through my social outlets, etc. I just need to know what costs are involved to the public such as membership (if any) and the charge at the door for the dances. I could then try to help get folks there. I love Al’s book and hope to keep this going for a long time. Thanks.
